South Wiltshire’s second ‘green open homes’ event, co-ordinated by Wilton
Community Land Trust, is aimed at inspiring home owners with an interest in
green living to visit eco-friendly properties to share energy saving
experiences. The Green Open Homes network aims to support low-carbon open homes events
across the country through free resources and advice. Open homes days are
arranged to encourage people who have made low carbon improvements to their
homes to share their experiences with neighbours and visitors.
Under this scheme private home-owner properties are showcased to the
general public and C G Fry & Son is the first developer in the region to
take part in this popular green initiative.
Sarah Ackroyd Event Co-organiser South
Wiltshire Green Doors says: “The Green Open Homes events are an excellent
way to demonstrate the benefits of low-carbon renovations such as solar panels,
solid wall insulation and draught-proofing.
Normally we arrange visits to local homes that are warm, green and cheap
to run and this is the first time we have invited a developer. We are delighted that the well-respected independent
developer C G Fry & Son which has a reputation for high-quality properties,
were able to open their doors to the public to demonstrate their commitment to playing
their part in being greener by design.”
Wyndham Place is an eco-friendly designed development in the desirable village
of Tisbury which, with its great amenities and transport links was named in the
Top 25 places to live in Britain in The Sunday Times.
As part of a green-scheme travel plan
introduced in conjunction with Wiltshire Council, C G Fry & Son is making
finances available to install bike-racks around Tisbury and at the local
railway station. Up to £800 is available to each household towards the costs of
travel by means other than the private car.
This sum on offer is available to the first occupiers of each dwelling
for one year from the date of occupancy.
Annabel Legg, Sales
Manager, C G Fry says: “Energy efficiency, cutting carbon emissions using
a fabric first approach and the use of sustainable materials is fundamental in
the way we design and build our homes. We
utilise Samsung Eco Heating Systems to provide heating and hot water in all our
properties at Wyndham Place. We have also introduced a green travel scheme
which has been well-received by residents.”
