Brewin Dolphin Plymouth announces its inaugural Charity Golf Day at Boringdon Park Golf Club on Tuesday 21st May, 2013 in support of the British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association (BLESMA). On the day, there is the opportunity to enter a unique charity auction for the chance to win a half-hour diving lesson for up to 3 people at the Plymouth Life Centre with Olympic Coach Andy Banks. The lucky bidder and guests will also say ‘hello’ to local Olympic Bronze medal winner and European 10m champion Tom Daley. GB Team mates, Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow, European 10m Synchronised Diving champions, will join Tom to meet the successful winners.
BLESMA campaigns for veteran’s rights, looking after individuals, their dependants and widows by offering a comprehensive grants and welfare system.
In Afghanistan, British servicemen and women − some as young as 18 years old − are suffering terrible, life changing injuries. Limbless veterans of all ages, even those recently wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan, are not only encouraged to walk again but to sail the Atlantic, to ski down mountains and to compete in the Paralympics for the country they fought for.
Brian James - ‘Head of Office’ Brewin Dolphin says: “We wanted to put something back into the community by organising this, our first-ever charity golf day. There are already 12 teams of 4-ball entered but we are looking for more to help raise as much money as we can for BLESMA. We are delighted to have received so many offers of prizes and support from our clients and business contacts which has been very generous. The ‘icing on the cake’ is the amazing experience being offered by Andy Banks and our Olympic Champions and I wish to take this opportunity to publicly thank each of them for giving up their valuable time for this great cause.”
The cost of the Golf day is £160 per team of 4 to include 18 holes followed by a two-course meal and prize presentation.
