Radiance Medispa Heralds Growth Success at Launch Day

Radiance MediSpa, an Exeter based business, opened the doors of its new pioneering premises to the public with a launch day on Saturday 27th April 2013. The event celebrated a significant growth stage for the business, which has been supported by business growth service, GrowthAccelerator.

Radiance MediSpa has been launched by Dr Ros Debenham offering non-invasive skin and body treatments ranging from laser hair restoration to non-surgical liposuction – some of which are exclusive in the South West. A mother and daughter team, the business offers a full range of beauty and complementary therapies in its new premises. In 2012 the business signed up to GrowthAccelerator, a service provided by the country’s leading growth specialists that helps businesses identify barriers to growth, links them to business experts who provide tailored advice and support them to achieve their next phase of growth.

GrowthAccelerator has helped the business jump from being home based to purchasing and renovating its new premises, by supporting with finalising the figures, managing cash flow and ensuring that a full strategy was in place. The new building now has 11 sumptuous treatment rooms, high-end hairdressing salon and personal trainer gym enabling Radiance MediSpa to realise its full potential and work alongside other health and wellbeing professionals, offering the South West a wide range of treatments.

Katharine Bourke, Growth Manager at GrowthAccelerator, said: “The opening of Radiance MediSpa’s new larger premises is testament to how the team has leveraged the strength of the business’ existing reputation and customer base to drive further growth. GrowthAccelerator’s experts continue to work alongside the business to help it identify new opportunities, and to ensure it has the appropriate strategy and skills in place to realise its full potential.”

Ros Debenham of Radiance MediSpa, commented: “We want to establish Radiance MediSpa as a pioneering centre of medical and beauty excellence in the South West with our team of qualified therapists who work with face, body, mind and lifestyle. GrowthAccelerator has given us the confidence to move forward and give the development of the new premises our full attention. I leapt at the chance of outside coaching to help us set the business on a rapid path, enabling us to achieve future growth and monitor it more closely.”

200 people attended the open day in aid of The Lady Taverners and Look Good Feel Better hosted by popular BBC Radio Devon presenter Judi Spiers.  It gave current and new clients the opportunity to take part in complimentary taster sessions and demonstrations, meet the team and enter the charity raffle.

Radiance MediSpa directly employs four people an already has seven alternative therapists and renowned plastic surgeon on board.  and has its sights set on doubling this in the near future to maximise the new 7,233 square foot premises. Radiance MediSpa now occupies Lower Ground Floor, Augustus House, New North Road, Exeter, Devon EX4 4HL.

Donation from Chartered Accountants Help Train Adoptive Families

A donation from Haines Watts Chartered Accountants Exeter to their Charity of the Year, Families for Children Adoption Agency (FFC) has enabled the worthy cause to run two preparation courses for potential adopters.  Haines Watts, based in Southernhay raised over £2,000 for FFC through various activities and networking events over the 12 month period.  This included an event to launch FFC as their new Charity of the Year held at Exeter Audi with sponsored Exeter Chiefs player Craig Mitchell during National Adoption Week.

Ally Colton, Fundraising & Publicity Coordinator ─ Families for Children Adoption says “We are hugely grateful to Haines Watts’ staff members for this donation which has enabled us to run two preparation courses for potential adopters to begin the process of completing their forever family.”

The training courses prepare prospective adopters for the challenges they face in parenting an adoptive child, with speakers including birth parents, adult adoptees and those who have adopted through Families for Children, who work across Devon, Cornwall and Dorset.  “A total of 35 potential adopters attended these two courses and following completion both the prospective adopters and their social worker will write a report which forms part of the Prospective Adopters’ Report - the legal document produced by Families for Children which goes before an Adoption Panel for official approval to adopt,” explains Ally.

*Figures for adoptions in England show, adoption statistics still make sad reading and courses like this will become even more important going forward with the Government’s recently announced proposals for reforms to the adoption system in the Children and Families Bill.

Claire from Devon, who with her husband, Julian, adopted three siblings, says: “The preparation course with Families for Children enabled us to explore the issues around adoption in more depth. The sessions which involved talks by adoptees and experienced adopters were particularly memorable and, at times, very emotional. We really benefited from the opportunity to discuss things with the other applicants  and the social workers. As adopters you need a lot of support; the friendships we made during the course have continued and form a crucial part of our support network now.”

Actress Caroline Quentin and Patron of Families for Children, says: “Haines Watts is giving such valuable support to Families For Children by making them their charity of the year. My association with Families For Children is something I am hugely proud of and I would like to say a big, personal thank you to everyone at Haines Watts.”
